Hey! If you're reading this, you've disabled the subreddit's CSS. There's no way to know for sure, but I feel confident saying that the fandom played a unique part in how the reveal felt and I'm not really sure you could get that watching it alone or even with a few friends. No Spoilers | No Promo Spoilers/Early Release | No Early Release Spoilers Or perhaps knowing the theories softened the blow. Up to the reveal, there had been a fair amount of pushing in that direction and, had i not convinced myself specifically that she wasn't, I don't think it would have hit me as hard. This made it easy to dismiss no matter how much evidence stacked up. It started as "pink and pink, that means they're the same" I think it was even around before the return, when we had seen virtually nothing of rose and didn't even have confirmation that the diamonds existed. I don't think the reveal would have been as strong as it was for me if I hadn't convinced myself that it wasn't the case.Ī large part of it for me was that, I had seen the rose is pink diamond theories start as a crack-theory. And I'm normally a person who seeks out spoilers left and right. The show is fun to watch while knowing spoilers, but I wouldn't take away that amazing moment in A Single Pale Rose where I realized that all of the crazy Rose = Pink Diamond theories were actually right. Then in Season 5, The Trial introduces that Rose maybe didn't kill Pink Diamond and we spend the rest of the season until A Single Pale Rose wondering the truth. The end of Season 3 and all of Season 4 is dominated by the "knowledge" that Rose killed Pink Diamond and how that affects Steven. Knowing the biggest reveal of them all, even if it does end up creating loads of other questions, robs the show of a lot of mystery. The show does a great job of setting up mysteries and leading viewers to form theories. But if you start the show with that knowledge, you're potentially robbing yourself of another good way to see it.
